How is it going everyone... My name is Joe and I'm 20.
I was first introduced to the game of texas hold'em poker by my grandpa.
I was 13 at the time and I fell in love with the game. We began having small games at my house every Sunday and I couldn't get enough of the game. I bought magazines, poker chips, poker everything, lol. A year after I started playing my Grandpa got me a nice poker table that I have been using ever since. In High School any time we had an assignment that we got to choose the topic I would pick poker. In my BMA (computer) class I did a powerpoint on poker, and in speech class I taught everyone how to play poker.
My love for the game has not died down to this day... As of right now I only play 2 games a week. I live 2 1/2 hours away from Soaring Eagle so I only go there once every few months. As of right now I'm to young for Four Winds or Firekeepers so I have to wait about 8 more months until I turn 21. The poker game that I play on Sundays is with my friends and family... We usually have 7 people and we play for $5 (keep in mind that my friends and I are in college, lol.) The Sunday night game is just for fun and I always have a good time. I will usually take 1st or 2nd most of the time...
About a year ago I was invited to a local game that has around 22-30 people. The majority of the players are between 35-60 years old with a few exceptions. The game is $20 and a $5 bounty (optional). I have taken first 3 times, 2nd 7 times and I have made the final table numerous times. 1st place is usually around $200 or so and 2nd is right around $130. Most of the time my 2nd places were because the other player and I chopped the money and he had more chips then me.
I've only played in a few tournaments outside of the Sunday and Monday games.
I played in a $65 Charity Poker tourney in which I got 30th out of 90 people.
I also played in a $65 Heartland Poker Tour Satellite qualifier 9 person tourney. I didn't like the format of this tournament though... You only started 1500 in chips, blinds at 25/50 and going up every 10 minutes. Essentially it was a push or fold style that does not suite my style. So after I got knockd out I decided to play a $65 non HPT that soaring eagle had... There was around 150 people and I ended up finishing in 27th... 7 shy from the money when my JJ got beat by JQ.
In this past August I took my winnings from my Sunday and Monday games and played a HPT qualifier for $360.
This was by far my biggest tournament. The players were ridicolous... They would overbet the pot and make horrible plays... I went out relativley early when my 4bet got called by KK when I held Ace King. My logic was that I was playing really tight and that I would get them to fold their hands... unfortuantely I ran into a better hand.
In the near future I want to play more tournaments because I'm a winning player.... Sorry if I rambled on I just really love to play poker.
